My wife Ellen and I have made The Independence our home for 13 years, and I enthusiastically recommend it to everyone.

We love the friendly, interesting neighbors, the caring and responsive staff who make everyone feel like family, and the security and comfort of a beautifully maintained building.

The location is wonderful — close to excellent medical care, shopping, and the vibrant city of Charlottesville, with its culture, parks, walking trails, and scenic views.

I especially enjoy the yoga classes and the Jefferson Jazz Jammers performances in the lobby.

If anyone asks me about where I live, I always say: come and join us — you won’t be disappointed!
